The cotton (right off the plant) is spun into thread with a hand spindle.
, The skeins of thread come off the spinner to go on the warping board (some of them are 6 feet long with lots of pegs) to give the length wise section of finished weaving (called warf). Shirley and Leonard enjoyed dressing in traditional costume. The Bird of Paradise flower in their garden had nothing to do with the weaving, but it sure was pretty.
